What concerns/issues do you believe our youth are struggling with most?

In working with our youth extensively as the Youth Leader at my church and Chairperson of the Youth Leaders National Executive for all United Churches in the Cayman Islands, the following have been some of the prevalent issues we have been seeing amongst our youth:

  • Low Self-Esteem (young people no longer take pride in who they are)
  • Lack of Courage (they give up so easily because ‘that is just the way it is’)
  • Peer Pressure

Speaking Topics

  • The Power of Christ in teenagers’ lives
  • Flying like an eagle (rising above peer pressure)
  • It doesn’t matter where you come from – it matters where you are going
  • 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens

What would you tell the youth of Cayman today if you had a microphone in your hand and 60 seconds?

Stop lying to yourselves! How many of you believe that your teachers are just out to get you? How many of you believe you are too fat? How many of you believe you can’t go to college? How many of you believe life just isn’t fair? It is all lies! Start believing in yourself. Stop listening to what your friends or the TV are trying to tell you when you know it is not correct. Stop lying to yourselves and start believing in the possibilities!
